چکیده

6 h-incubation assay correlated strongly (r 0.98) with corresponding 3-h incubation results. The DR assay can measure low concentrations of renin in samples with PRA 0.65 ng mL 1 h 1 with a good correlation and low CV. This suggests that the DR method is an adequate method for measuring samples with low renin concentrations and is possibly a suitable alternative for measuring renin in black individuals. The advantage of higher throughput with the DR assay could facilitate the measurement of renin in population-based studies and aid in the screening for secondary forms of hypertension, including primary aldosteronism and Liddle syndrome.

Effects of anticoagulants on lipoprotein(a) measurements with four commercial assays.

Lipoprotein(a) levels in plasma are considered an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis at different sites. Although Lp(a) measurements have recently gained interest in clinical laboratories, several problems are still unresolved. A potential source of pre-analytical variability lies in the treatment of the specimens, since it has been reported that values of several lipid quantities are ...

Human Plasma Apolipoproteins A-IV-O and A-IV-3

Human apolipoprotein (apo) A-IV is a polymorphic plasma protein controlled by two codominant alleles at a single genetic locus. Thus far, five different isoproteins (apoA-IV-O to apoA-N-4) have been described in Caucasians. We have recently identified the nucleotide and amino acid substitutions that are the basis for the most common isoproteins, apoA-IV-l and apoA-IV-2. In this report, the muta...

Production and Evaluation of Polyclonal Rabbit Anti-Human p53 Antibody Using Bacterially Expressed Glutathione S-transferase-p53 fusion protein

p53 is a key tumor suppressor gene that is targeted for inactivation during human tumorigenesis. In this study, we produced and characterized polyclonal antihuman p53 antibody. The cDNA encoding the completehuman p53 protein was cloned into pGEX-4T-1 and expressed in Escherichia coli as a fusion protein with Schistosoma japonicum glutathione S-transferase (GST). The rabbits were immunized...

Electroimmuno- and immunonephelometric assays of apolipoprotein A-I by using a mixture of monoclonal antibodies.

The use of mixtures of well-defined monoclonal antibodies may represent a step forward in the standardization of immunochemical assays. We developed and optimized working conditions for using such a mixture to determine apolipoprotein A-I in human sera by two independent techniques (electroimmuno- and immunonephelometric-assays). Six monoclonal antibodies, each addressed to distinct epitopes lo...

Hepatic apo-A-I and apo-E and intestinal apo-A-I are synthesized in precursor isoprotein forms by organ cultures of human fetal tissues.

In this report, we demonstrate that organ cultures of human fetal liver and intestine synthesize and secrete into the culture medium the major apolipoproteins. The liver cultures were shown to produce apo-A-I, apo-A11, apo-B, apo-C-11, apo-C-IIIs, and apo-E, and the cultures of intestine produced primarily apo-A-I. The synthesized apolipoproteins secreted into the culture medium were identified...
